KIRDARC launched new education project " Access to Education for Vulnerable and Marginalised Groups in Karnali Zone" in Karnali zone with support European Union.
Objectives of the project:
Overall objective: To promote access to and quality education in Karnali zone contributing to ensure education for all-especially for vulnerable and marginalized groups, social inclusion and child protection
Specific objective: To increase access of children to quality education at primary level of selected schools and ECDs of the Karnali Zone with meaningful participation of the school communities
Target Area:- 25 VDCs of Karnali zone
Jumla : VDCs Tamti, Sanigaun, Tatopani, Kudari and Badki
Humla : Darma, Shreemasta, Melchham, Jaira, Shreenagar
Mugu : Bhiyee, Dhainakot, Jima, Photu and Kalai
Dolpa : Majhpal, Kaigaun, Rimi, Likhu, Pahada
Kalikot : Raku, Mehelmudi, Mumra, Shipkhana, Siuna
Target group(s) : 3-14 years children particularly girls, Dalits, ethnic groups, differently able, orphans, HIV/AIDs and conflict affected and ultra poor of communities who lack access to quality education up to grade five
Final Beneficiaries: Approximately 30,000 population
Estimated results of the project:
Result 1: Needs of the educational institutions and communities identified and CEMIS and baseline information established
Result 2: 7,000 children of 3-4 years enrolled and experiencing conducive environment in community initiated ECDs.
Result 3: 1,000 children of 9-14 years mainstreamed in formal classes after completing AEP classes.
Result 4: Increased participation of 22,000 children of 5-9 years and above including Dalits, ethnic and vulnerable groups resulted in increased NER, retention rate, learning achievement, promotion and primary cycle completion rate
Result 5: Increased participation of children in school governance in creating safe and supportive environment.
Result 6: Enhanced capacity of school community for sustainable management with good governance practices for delivery of quality education with improved linkages with local government structures
