It was against this background, KIRDARC was born in the year 1999 with the initiation of an aspiring and dedicated team of youths from Karnali Zone with the following Vision, Goal, Mission and the Objectives:

Vision:
A non-discriminatory and fearless socio-political environment,
Local people's participation and lead role in Karnali's development,
People claiming and exercising their rights for better lives in the region,
Peace, social justice and prosperity in Karnali Zone

Mission:
KIRDARC strives to enable Karnali people to claim and exercise their rights for poverty reduction and improved livelihoods through their organization, research, policy advocacy and judicious resource mobilization.

Goal:
Karnali people are organized and enabled to claim and exercise their rights for poverty reduction, improved livelihoods, social inclusion, conflict mitigation and protection of human rights and sustainable peace in the region.
